Irrigation is the lifeblood

Without irrigation our valley would be a desert. Note the patchwork of crops beyond. The Rattlesnake Hills are in the distance here, taken looking the opposite direction from yesterday's view. No need to explain that name...

The wind machine protects the buds from frost in early spring by circulating the air, mixing warmer air from above with the cold air that would otherwise settle near the ground and damage the crop. The Horse Heaven Hills are in the distance, so named because they were difficult to farm in the early years, but heaven for horses.
